Since his debut in 1999, Patrik Isaksson has been one of Sweden’s most popular artists, with hit songs such as “Hos dig är jag underbar,” “Du får göra som du vill,” and “Ruta 1”—songs that are now being rediscovered and embraced by a new generation. He has also recorded duets with artists including Marie Fredriksson, Joey Tempest, Merit Hemmingson, Anders Glenmark, Ellen Bergström, and Helene Sjöholm.
In the years since Isaksson released his most recent album, he has by no means been inactive. Rather, one could say he has been too busy to make an album. His live performances have been running at full speed, and numerous collaborations with other artists have been released. As the years passed, however, a certain fear began to emerge—a fear of finding the right path into new creative work.
“Mellan hopp och förtvivlan” (“Between Hope and Despair”)—Patrik Isaksson’s first studio album in 12 years—is his most personal work to date. It is a journey, a roller coaster, and a challenge in which Isaksson returns to the core of what he has conveyed ever since his debut in 1999. Recorded in part at the legendary Atlantis Studio in Stockholm, the album moves musically between epic choruses and restrained pop gems.
“Mellan hopp och förtvivlan,” the artist’s seventh album, was released on May 12 via Argle Bargle Studios and is followed by an extended summer tour across Sweden.
The new single “Löften” (“Promises”) was released in April ahead of the upcoming album during 2025.
